Continuing to Educate Myself

Hi All,
just wanted to drop a line to the people checking in...
First off - my skin still looks great! I am not on the strict Pagano diet any more - nor have I been for a long time but I still look and feel great.

As you know I contributed my healing to a healthier digestive track - and that education started,  with Dr Pagano's book called Healing Psoriasis Naturally.

I also did a lot of probiotic therapy and then detoxed with something called Medi Clear Plus - which I continue to put in my smoothies in the morning.

I also have gone completely organic (or as much as possible as sometimes it is just not available).

I started to read a book called "The Omnivore's Dilemma" and it has renewed my faith in going in organic, not just for my health but for the health of the planet.  I am not finished with the book yet but there is section that talks about the invention of synthetic fertilizers and what it does to our ground water - and ultimately drinking water, and dead zones in the ocean.

If you believe we are all connected - then perhaps you can start to view our psoriasis as a symptom of something off balance in your body - and ultimately on the planet.  Getting myself back in balance by replenishing the gut flora, removing toxins, and not retoxing myself has gotten me healthy, and because I am closely connected to my daughter - her skin has started to improve as well (she has eczema). After all, she eats what I eat - most of the time. ;)

People who read this blog may try to get themselves back in balance - start their own blog and continue the spread of knowledge about personal health, family health, community health, and dare I say it global health.

Everything starts with awareness. I am not saying my natural path will work for you, but I want you to be aware that it has worked for me, and thousands of others.

I want you to be aware of what you are eating and where it came from. If you eat a lot of processed food, you may be eating a lot of corn. Who cares? Well maybe your skin does. Maybe your health does.

More later.

October 2015 - I am declaring myself healed!

I am one of the lucky ones. My skin is an early warning system that my body is not functioning properly.  Some people get high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, or overweight, or depression, or asthma or <insert health condition>.

I get rashes that indicate that my body has toxins that are causing problems.  I have spent the past 18 months detoxing and cleaning up my diet and my skin currently shows no signs of psoriasis.  I am no longer on a restrictive diet but I eat and drink the things that poison me in much more moderation.

I have not used any pharmaceuticals in about 8 months. The steroid cream has its own set of problems but as my  blog followers know, I have used it when I needed a break from a bad flare.

I know I will get the occasional flare going forward, but I know that flare is reminding me to stay away from my toxins. My toxins may be different than yours but for me it was:
  • night shades
  • sugar
  • wine
  • pesticides from non-organic foods
How do I know this? Well it is all in my blog but the short answer is I had a toxicity report that tested me through the roof on some heavy metals. The only source of these I can figure out are from pesticides, maybe bad tap water.  I get itchy when I drink more than 2 glasses of red wine. I get itchy if I eat too much sweets. I don't feel itchy with night shades but I have been eating those in moderation.  If I eat tomato sauce 2 times in a row rashes looked a little redder - at least to me.

How I healed is clearly spelled out in my blog but to summarize I did the following:
  • Read Dr Pagano's book and educated myself and tried to follow it
  • Detoxed myself per Pagano's recommendations
  • Addressed my leaky gut with supplements - (Probiotics)
  • Detoxed with MediClear
  • Drink more filtered water
  • Went organic!
  • Check lotions - a lot of them have bad stuff in it.  I switched to olive oil.
I wish you all the best.
My daughter has eczema - and I am starting her on my regiment. I will keep you in the loop on how she is doing.
Thanks for visiting my blog.  I have over 20k visits.  You guys kept me going.  I am very happy.

Hola!

Hi all, I just got back from 10 days in Mexico. My skin is great. My foot has a little dry patch but it isn't even noticeable. I was eating and drinking everything in sight so I need to get on the wagon but the skin is holding up just fine.

Oh, but I did break/ sprain my toe on the first day tripping on rocks in the ocean. Other than that I'm great!

Hi All,
Just wanted to let you know that all all is going well.  I let the picture speak for itself....

May is almost over - and I am still doing great

Hi all,  my skin looks the same, clear every where except for one little spot on my right foot. I am taking different supplements. The ones to repair my kidney didn't really clear up the one spot. I went back to my holistic doctor and he is now worried about my stress level.  I dont feel stressed, but I do notice that I have been sleeping poorly at night. My mind just races on random topics.  If these supplements help I will list them out for you guys.

In the meantime I still loosely follow the Pagano diet. I eat organic. Fruit smoothies in morning for breakfast. Lunch is usually a salad. Dinner will rarely have nightshades or red meat. Sometimes I juice veggies like kale and carrots and beets. I will have a glass of wine or beer 1-3x a week.

My skin is great. But I do want to get rid of this last one little spot. I am confident I will soon.

Also I started (9 weeks ago)  an exercise class called the bar method. It is super hard but gives amazing results. :) pics to come in a few weeks. ( I would send pics now but still laying in bed with iPad and too lazy to get up.  :).  Happy Memorial Day weekend!

April fools update

Hi all, things are still going well but I will say that the last little spot on my right foot is still there. I went back to my holistic dr today and he said that particular spot on my foot is indicative of weak kidneys. He showed me a Chinese acupressure chart that showed me what he was talking about. Then he did some muscle testing and said everything does seem to be fine except my kidneys.

I am going to try the following supplements for a month, and if this spot heals then we all can start creating some new theories. BTW, he reminded me that when one puts steroid cream on one spot the psoriasis will simply move to a different spot. I have not been using any cream for a while so let's see if making my kidneys stronger helps.

Happy March

Hi All,
just to let you know, all is still well. I spent a little time this past week on Inspire.com to see what is going on with other psoriasis sufferers. The good news is some of the people that started the diet the same time I did have also seen fantastic results and are happy (go Jitterbug and a few others who's handles I can't remember right now).

The sad news is many other people write that they feel so depressed and sad because this condition is making their life miserable and their meds have stopped working.  I have chimed in on a few discussions to 'enlighten' sufferers to another path - but I don't want to be pushy.

When the student is ready the teacher will enter.
I will post there every now and then - but that is all.  My traffic for this sight has gone up so I know I am getting through to some of you.  Please know that I am not trying to make any money off of this blog.  Google tells me to add ads to make money - but that is not why I am doing it.  I really just want to give people hope that their body can heal if you give it a chance.

Peace and love to all!

Happy Valentines day

Hi all,
it has been a while since I actually posted with a picture so I wanted to do that.  Not bad considering a holiday season of night shades and alcohol.  I actually gained 10 lbs but I have started my diet and exercising again to get into shape.

If you look closely my left foot looks as good as it ever has but there is a slight discoloration on my right.  This is strange because my right foot was always the best one.  But I know this is because I did a 10+ mile rollerblade with my kids right before Christmas and my socks were awful.  Its bruised but it will heal.  It is not itchy at all.

I have started going to the gym 2-3 times a week and do about 2-3 miles on the elliptical machine.  I make sure I remove my sweaty socks as soon as possible because I think that causes too much "stress" on my delicate skin.

People keep asking me what is the one thing that helped me. There is no answer other than clean living.  Educate yourself on what a good diet really means in terms of alkaline, sugar, gluten, night shades and all of the other things that are mentioned in the Pagano book.  Steer clear of processed foods because there are so many additives in there that you don't know what you are eating. Go organic to avoid pesticides.  This is the only thing I can think of that caused the heavy metals in my toxicity report.  Make sure your digestive track is doing what it is supposed to do daily, (if you know what I mean). Finally, believe.  Please tell me your stories.  I will keep blogging if it helps people.

Still doing great

Hey all, I just want to let you know my skin looks great.
I feel blessed and fortunate.
I watch what I eat and drink but I still indulge. I promise I will tell you if any new changes come up but for now, I am declaring myself healed.

I hope this blog has helped at least one other person. It was scary to ignore my doctors and "heal like a hippy", but it worked and I am so happy.

I feel like some people have a better sense if smell, or are smarter, or better at math. I happen to have sensitive skin. My skin is my warning system that I need to eat something different. I see it as my blessing in disguise. I have learned so much about nutrition that I drive most folks nuts, but it has saved me.
Good luck to all of you.
